The Dota 2 Team
by ITU, presents...
Our second season of our Dota 2 team with a completely new roster! On Thursday September 14th at 17:00 in the IT Committee room on Saltmätargatan 13-17 there will be a shorter general information meeting where all SASSE members are welcome to hang out, ask questions and notify their interest in participating. If there are SASSE members that are not able to participate in the meeting, it is possible to notify interest through email to one of the coaches of the team. Contact information can be found below.
The recruitment process will consist of a general information meeting where SASSE members are able to notify their interest on a signup sheet. If there are SASSE members that are not able to participate in the meeting, it is possible to notify interest through email to one of the coaches of the team. One week after the meeting, the work on determining the final roster will commence. Thus, the signup period is concluded one week after the meeting. As soon as possible after the signup period is concluded, the team roster will be announced to all who notified their interest.
The team roster will be determined on players’ skill in Dota 2, understanding of the game as well as enthusiasm. A Dota 2 team generally consists of 5 positions, ranging from 1st to 5th position. In Dota 2, these positions are also referred to as Carry, Midlaner, Offlaner, Roamer/Supporter and Supporter, respectively. It is the goal of the IT Committee Dota 2 team to consist of these 5 positions, as well as a possible stand-in 6th player. Consequently, recruitment will also take into account the positions that the players are able to play.
Coaches and possible playing coaches of the Dota 2 team at the IT Committee at Stockholm School of Economics will be Martin Unger and Simon Eliasson. Both possess extensive experience playing and observing Dota 2 as well as coaching experience through coaching the Dota 2 team of the IT Committee during the spring of 2017.
Practice will be held once a week where two Captains Mode games will be played. Practice will be a set day and time every week that the elected team can agree upon. Apart from playing, practice will consist of analysing replays from last week’s practice games, post-game reflections as well as a final discussion at the end of practice. We are firm believers that the way to improve as a team in Dota 2 is not only to play together, but to analyse difficulties and discuss how to improve on them.
Apart from practices, the team aims to participate in Dota 2 Battle Cups as often as possible in order to improve in a competitive environment. Since Dota 2 Battle Cups are held on Saturday evenings, the goal is to play Battle Cups every second or third Saturday.
If you are interested in participating in and/or knowing more about the Dota 2 team, you are welcome to the general information meeting on Thursday September 14th at 17:00 in the IT Committee room on Saltmätargatan. You can also contact the coaches Martin Unger and Simon Eliasson through email:
